Drena De Niro shared an emotional Instagram post after visiting the grave of son Leandro “Leo” De Niro Rodriguez.

In the social media update, the 52-year-old opened up about grieving her only child. “If everyone valued the depth of love & sadness, a person can feel I don’t believe we’d have wars, we wouldn’t hurt children, animals, each other our planet and oceans the way we do,” she wrote.

Drena added, “I’m grieving both for myself, my loved ones and everyone who has ever lost a child or one whom they’ve loved so deeply. I’ll never get used to this, no one should.”

She then thanked her friend Liz for “a beautiful day visiting our lil ‘bruh’ Leo.” She added, “I’m sure he was up there laughing at you keeping vigil while mom pees behind the flower bed.”

Drena paired her message with photos of herself at the gravesite, accompanied by Liz. She also displayed a pebble with angel wings drawn on it. On the other side of the pebble, text written in a black marker read, “TO LEO WE LOVE YOU THE WORLD MISSES YOU PRUNE + CIELO.”

In an Instagram Story, Drena shared another photo of the rock and tagged her friend Prune Nourry, who appeared to have passed along the message inscribed on it. The grieving mother wrote alongside the snap, “mi manchi molto molto, il mio amore, mio cuore, Leo,” which translates to “I miss you very very much, my love, my heart, Leo.”

Leandro passed away at 19 years old in July from an accidental overdose caused by the combination of fentanyl, bromazolam, alprazolam, 7-aminoclonazepam, ketamine, and cocaine.
