LOUISVILLE, Ky. — An 18-year-old woman was injured after getting shot at the Kentucky State Fair on Saturday.

State police said it happened about 6:15 p.m., on the Midway, at the fairgrounds.

The victim’s 19-year-old boyfriend, Amari McClung, was carrying a concealed handgun unsecured in his waistband.

According to KSP, the gun became dislodged and McClung was trying to grab it when it fired once, striking his girlfriend in the foot.

KSP troopers were close and saw the incident, taking immediate action to ensure other fairgoers were safe.

The victim was taken to UofL Hospital with what police said appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries.

Police arrested McClung. He is charged with wanton endangerment and carrying a concealed deadly weapon.

McClung is being lodged at Louisville Metro Corrections.
