PRO golfer Cameron Smith has emerged as the buyer of a $4.85m apartment in one of Brisbane’s most luxurious residential buildings.

The level four, whole-floor sub-penthouse in ‘Maison’ by Graya and Frank Developments changed hands to the World No. 4 golfer in December and settled in 14 days.

The resale of the Joe Adsett-designed apartment at 60 Moray St, New Farm, equates to a profit of $1.25m for the seller, who bought it off-the-plan in January 2021 for $3.6m.

That’s not a bad jump in value in under two years, and shows the strength of the apartment market in New Farm, where the apartment sale price record for Brisbane was recently broken with the sale of the penthouse in a new project called ‘Moray House’ in the same street.

The sale of the 239 sqm, four-bedroom, three-bathroom apartment was negotiated by Matt Lancashire and Josh Brown of Ray White New Farm.

The sale has prompted the owner of the ground floor apartment in ‘Maison’ to put the property on the market in the hope of making as much of a profit.

Golfing fans will be very familiar with Queenslander Cameron Smith, who recently won the British Open, and has won five other tournaments on the PGA Tour, including last year’s Australian PGA Championship.

He also recently joined the LIV Golf league — whose CEO is Greg Norman — for a reported $140m.

The apartment will be the 29-year-old’s Brisbane base, as he currently lives in Florida.

He was spotted by fans at a popular coffee shop close to the apartment in Moray Street over the December break.

Property records show Smith also owns a unit in Zillmere which he bought for $395,000 in 2015.
